Assuming I'm mechanically "retarded"

What mods would you suggest for me? Apart from Linex and remote start I have nothing planned. I'm a dentist by day and do not feel comfortable drilling holes in my new rig. I suppose I could hire help or do research and start drilling myself.

I want to set my truck apart from the factory F150. I want to be "special" heh.

Can you post some pic of the new truck? That'll give a better idea on what you are working with. What options did you get from the factory?

First thing I did was upgrade the headlight/fog light bulbs to PIAA (SilverStar in the fogs). Also replaced the front turn signal bulbs with SilverStar to get rid of the yellow. Replaced the interior bulbs (front map and rear dome light) with LED's. And also got the Fusion/Edge key that has the FOB built into the key.

Those are simple and easy....post those pics, Doc!

You could do a custom paint job on it. I know it's brand new, but that would set your truck apart from others.

A dentist? That bites. Sorry...I don't mean to get mouthy.

Tint the windows. Look at some new wheels/tires (save the factory set for winter). That was one of the first things I did...makes a huge difference in my opinion. Swap out the orange reflectors on the back of the side view mirrors for the ones that match the mirror plastic. There's a thread around here somewhere about it.

Here are a couple pics I took at a friend's place on my way home from the dealership. It is pretty plain at the moment. I think I may do little things at first like removing that 4x4 sticker :P

Don't the turn signals in front have to be amber?

If it were my truck this is what I would do. First off I would tint the front windows followed by some black N Fab wheel to wheel Nerf bars. Next round of mods would be a leveling kit and alignment. Now that your truck has a better appearance I would do an exhaust and a programmer to get it running right. By now you prolly love your trucks stance but want some aftermarket wheels and tires. This is a personal preference item so you will have to pick and choose which ones you like. To finish off the exterior I would add some HD tails and headlights. If you still have the mod fever then go buy a good aftermarket 4 channel amp and some good quality door speakers. All of this will def make your truck stand out among others. Everything I listed above are the exact mods I plan to do to my FX4. Goodluck

Ok... this is the first I've heard of such a key.

Who sells it... Ford? If so, is it listed under "parts" or "Accessories"?

Do the USB2 mod. Cheap mod, under $30 (or less) if you do it yourself.

Fill in the gaping hole in the front bumper (assuming Alberta doesn't have a front license plate requirement) with a grill. I noticed you have a front license plate holder, not sure if you want to keep it or trash it.

Paint match the plastic bumper components to the rest of the truck.

if it was mine id do:

1) leveling kit
2) if you want running boards, n-fabs but not black, if you did black it would force you into black wheels and i can't see a blacked platinum working out well. have them colored to match.
3) id just do a bolt on system that exits the stock location with a nice tip
4) tint front windows to match back (15%-20% matches pretty well)
5) wheels of your choosing, id say atleast a 20" rim to keep the whole vehicle still looking expensive since the truck wasnt cheap, and then a 33/12.5" all terrain

Exhaust 45'd behind the rear tires, a gryphon when they become available for the 09's +, wheels/tires, leveling kit, no idea on what grilles are available yet (maybe a harley grille), harley heads and tails ect ect. I personally think an exhaust 45'd behind each rear tire is the best mod on trucks. I am an exhuast nut so maybe that's why, but any truck I see not done that way looks incomplete and unbalanced to me.
