DIY Bug Screen (alot of Pic's)

He guys so I decided to make a bug screen for my radiator today, instead of buying one for 20 bucks I made this from supplies in my basement. It turned out to be a great project as the pic's will show. Hope you guys enjoy. Oh yeah quit buying stuff that you can make for a fraction of the cost, not only is it easier on the pockets but it is way more satisfying. I will post pic's tmrw when I mount it.

I hope you plan to mount it with like 1/2" gap from the radiator or it will be useless

looks good, and looks like nice craftsmanship :o

Thank you very much, and yes it will mount about 2-3" away from the radiator maybe even more.

Patman - can you elaborate on why it would be 'useless' if not mounted 1/2" in front of the radiator? I assume you mean as opposed to directly on the radiator?

Djg,

What did you use to band the edges of your screen? I need to do the same thing before 'Love Bug' season hits down here.

I know for me up here in canada my bug screen also acts as a rock screen too. If its mounted away from the rad the rocks have some cushion so they dont ding the fins up! I would assume its the same for big bugs? The so called "sand" they use on the roads up here in winter can be pretty big, hard on rads and windshields!

Some use furnace filters for this purpose.

Very nice work! I was more sloppy with my installation - used a screen but connected it the radiator frame and tubes with alligator clips. Works well.
