Why would you lower a 4x4? I understand not lifting it but why not just leave it stock?

x2........... why lower a 4x4 thats totaly useless, u should have just saved some money and baught a 2wheel drive one....i know its cheaper 2 lower something, and you probably dont wanna ride around at stock height like everyone else, but just save for a lift kit youll be more happy with the end results

If I remember correctly he needs to lower it a bit for clearance in his garage.:bandito:

I've never understood why anyone would lower a 4x4. Much less one that had a locking rear differential. I would figure that if you want to lower a 4x4, you most likely don't need the 4wd in the first place. But to each their own.

Really the only unbiased piece of advice I can give you is that lowering a 4wd truck can cost you resale value. Be careful how extreme you go with lowering it.

jusadog is right. I need to be able to fit the truck in my garage, which has a shorter than average opening. If I could, I'd go the other way with it and put a lift on, but at this point, that's not going to happen. The 4x4 will mainly be used in Winter. We can get some wicked snowstorms in Wisconsin.

I did the measuring of my garage before i bought my 09. I wanted to make sure it fit or i probably wouldn't have got it and i wouldn't want to lower to make it fit either. I have about four inches of clearance to make it in the garage.

As much as lowering a 4x4 sounds odd I have to agree with BrainDonor on a 4x4 truck kinda being necessary in WI especially down here near the lake in Milwaukee. We get some terrible snow and without a 4x4 you will be spinning and fishtailing everywhere.

It also seems that everything in Milwaukee was designed for little cars, there's parking structures with clearances near 6ft.

I know the garage at the airport here has areas that are only 6'2" and I almost drove into that area.

I don't know how the 08's compare to the 09's in height but they should be close to the same. Every garage that I have come across so far has been about 4-6" too short for my 08.

to all the people that say why lower a 4x4, umm have you not heard of snow? or inclimate weather? 4x4 isn't just used for riding through mud or on trails.

and he can't fit in the garage

whats the difference if he lowers the rear or raises the front? his truck and it will be nice and level, just not sitting as high.
