Question So... who'll buy the '09?

The way you feel about it right now - going off looks obviously as there are no numbers or figures to dwell over as yet - are you planing on trading in your truck for the 2009 F150?

Me - no.

What about you?

Would you be tempted, or definitive, if the numbers [hp, torque, towing load, etc...] were released and they were [damn] impressive in comparison to the '04-'08... or, even better, the competition?

Me - possibly.

What about you?

For the record: It took me a good two years, after release, for these late model trucks to fully grow on me before I decided to purchase one.

Grubrunner, you'll probably get more than you asked forhere. I'd jump on one in a minute. I've been thinking about dropping down to an F-150, and the new 2009 seems it will easily fit the bill. It's larger, better looking, has the integrated brake controller, tow/haul mode, and a six-speed transmission. With the baby Stroke on the horizon, I'd pop on one in a minute with a gasser while I wait - as the 5.4L has plenty...

Which brings me to this...I can't see all the griping by these gearheads because Ford chooses to make a truck with good respectable POWER. If you want to be first across the intersection, don't buy a truck - get a Mustang or a Vette. The track record has proven Ford knows what they are doing, and I'm glad they are not jumping to be the best in these stupid horespower wars. My tweaked 6.0L will pretty much run with most rigs on the road, but if it doesn't, who cares?

I think it's about reliability and good quality. That is what got the F-Series the best record and the 30+ years awards. That's what will keep them there. Yeah, they may become second, or third, someday, but can you really expect to stay on top forever? I'd just like to know why it's taken all the others sooooo long to still NOT get their !@$%^& together? You'd think that after someone sets a precident, it would be easy to take it one step further. Look at the Tundra frame and tailgate - is it that hard to see it's not really a TRUCK under that pig wearing lipstick? Yeah, it has horsepower, but it will fall apart trying to use it. Nothing like showing up to the party in your underwear. Looks like the Oval hit a homerun here with the 2009. We'll see. Time will tell, but with the stakes set so high, I doubt Ford will come out half-****ed. Will I help them gather up the posse? You bet. Where do we meet? The Tundra pooping, I mean PROVING grounds? Is there such a thing?

Not me. I just bought mine and I plan on keeping it for a long time. Maybe the new body style may grow on me, but I doubt it.

I run through 30-35k miles a year on my trucks. My 06 will be up for replacemement by the time they get the bugs worked out of the 09. I plan to wait till 2010 to give it some time on the market, but based on how my current 150 is holding up may end up getting one of the 09's. Either way I will get one of these shortly after its release

I would pick up a black XLT Screw, but by the time my truck is ready to be traded in (has 46k km's (28,000 miles) on the clock now), I'll likely be looking at another new bodystyle for the F150. It's all timing really, but if I needed a new one now, I'd try to hold off til 2010.
Other than those small details, yes, I'd get an 09.

My '04 is paid off, so I don't mind keeping it - but then again, then longer I keep it the less I'll get for a trade in. I'm leaning towards getting a 2010 model w/ the ecoboost or diesel; but I just bought my wife an '08 Ford Edge so I'm in no hurry to spend more money. I really like the new features of the new model though - it sure is tempting.

We'll see after I test drive one.

I'm keeping my 01 Screw, but I would love to replace our 05 Expy with a new Supercrew in 2010 or 2011.

I like the new 6-speed auto, but no real improvements in engines yet, just "massaged" developments.

Plus after my 04', I will not buy first year production again. I will consider an '10 model year, but if Ford doesn't improve the power of the 5.4L V8 to the levels of the competition, I won't rule out different truck builder.

I leased mine. So I probably will get one when my lease is done. I want the diesel version though.

I don't understand what the big issue is about horse power? Its not like were drag racing on weekends and looking for faster numbers. There trucks not muscle cars.
