Free/Cheap lower grill gap solution

Thought I'd share this 'mod' my father came up with... He purchased an FX2 in a state that doesn't have front tags, and was stuck with the 'hole' in the lower bumper.

He was at the dumpsters to dump his trash when someone pulled up with a couple of the bread tray shelves that are used in grocery stores. Dad asked him if he could have one, took it home, made a few cuts, and mounted it using the same points that were utilized for the tag frame. Here's the unpainted results:

and here it is after a couple of passes with paint to better match:

I think it looks great, and as always, I'm amazed at the skill and praticality of my dad.

You should take a shot standing back, so we can get the full effect.

I'm 2000 miles away from the truck - so it would be a -very- wide shot!

I'll see if my dad can take another shot

Im very thankful we dont have to have license plates on the front of our vehicles where we live. It would be ridiculous. No inspections either thank God. less government the better

My Texas truck came with a black plastic front license plate bracket. I am wondering what the large plastic covers are for that are on either side of license plate? What optional items can fit in this spots?
