Gotts Mod 2010 f150

Has anyone tried the Gotts mod on a 2010 yet - 5.4l? Was going to buy a CAI but having read this would rather do the Gotts mod and a programmer?

2009 and 2010 come with a cold air intake from the factory. It's hard for me to see how it could be improved upon significantly.

Removing the air snorkel is the best thing that can be done And it cost nothing for 7hp

Has anyone removed the snorkle and installed a drop in K&N? This would be very easy if you really get something out of it. (and cheap)

K&N 'filters' let too much abrasive road grit through for my liking. Oiled or not, they do not filter as well as a well made fiber filter and in most applications do not remove enough air-flow restriction to matter. This is more true than ever on late model vehicles.

IMO, the most over-hyped product around.

But there will always be staunch supporters of the product just because it is something to buy to 'distinguish' one's truck from a stock machine. But it is not better than stock, worse actually.

I did the mod (snorkel removal) but did not disconnect the battery yet to get the supposed full effect. All I really notice so far is a little more noise when the throttle is applied.

Also, there is no way to connect a piece of tubing to the air box, as the hole left in it is a very odd shape, sort of triangular.

Any pics or instructions on how to do this mod to a 2010? Why does the battery have to be disconnected? I do have a Justin custom tune on my truck will this help or is pointless?

Supposedly, the computer will learn the new increased air flow and will adjust the fuel rate to keep the air/fuel ratio correct.

All you have to do is remove the airbox and squeeze the heck out of it to get the snorkel piece out of the box. I used 2 small screwdrivers to pry it out as I could not squeeze the cold plastic enough to get it out, otherwise. You are then left with a much larger hole in the air box and a rubber flap leading into the inner fender area.

Removing the snorkel is pointless, it certainly doesn't give you a magical 7 HP. Some people said it made the truck sound better so I pried it off for grins, but it mostly just made an annoying resonating at certain RPM so back on it went.

Better? I guess to me the 2% HP increase at high RPM wasn't worth the droning to me, but it may be to others.

Hey now I'm not one to argue with free horsepower but to each their own. I have yet to do it to know if there is any droning and can understand that when you buy a 30k truck you don't want it to be annoying to drive haha! And I didn't mean to seem malicious in that post. The land rover forums have put me in a crabby mood >_<
