Recon LED Bed Lights
Recon LED Bed Lights
Finally getting around to posting up pictures of my Recon under bed rail LED light kit on my truck. Actually jdtech65 made me feel guilty after he posted up his pictures.

I have it wired with a toggle switch and a door jamb stlyle switch to turn it on when the tailgate is dropped. The toggle switch allows me to turn them off when I want to leave the tailgate down. The wiring was pretty easy when you remove the tail light, there is plenty of room to get into the area.
It's hard to capture the light these give off with a camera, but they do make a huge difference in the dark. The Recon kit has 8 "pods" of LED's, 4 to a side and each pod consist of 6 LED's. I bought the kit off of Amazon for ~$90 and have about $7 in the switches.
Here is the toggle switch on the backside of the left rear bed post. You can see the wires for the door jamb switch through the bed extender mounting holes. I would suggest locating this switch either up or down to avoid them being visible.

Here is a shot of the wiring for the door jamb switch on the tailgate from the tail light socket.

Here is a shot of the door jamb switch on the tailgate which is concealed in the tailgate seal.

Here is a shot of the lights mounted under the bed rails and turned on.

Here is a shot of the lighting on the bed floor in the daytime with the tonneau covering the bed.

Looks good. Now I'm definetly gonna have to add in the door jamb switch if I ever get time to do that and my tailgate lock. Harvest is finally getting into full gear and snowmobile season is right around the corner so it might be awhile before I add it.
I agree a camera (at least mine) doesn't show just how much light these put off.

Have the same light kit and really like the way it looks.
But I wired into the bed light on the back of the cab so it turns on when you open a door or when you press the unlock button on the key fob. It then turns off by itself when you lock the doors.

I really should take a pic of the finished product. Don't know why, but this is all I have. In reality, you can't even see the lights when you're standing there (not to mention, there's not one wire in sight). They're bright ... impressively.
