Rough Country 2" Leveling Kit?

I am new here and this is my first post. Got my new 2009 SCREW lariat last weekend, I absolutely love it. Best truck I have every driven period.

Heres the deal, I have an appointment tomorrow morning to have a 2" Rough Country leveling kit installed and then get an alignment afterwards. I am a little apprehensive about doing this mod. I don't want to mess up the way my truck rides now. It is smooth over bumps.

I am worried about some of the issues I have read about, like getting a big rattle over bumps. Some have called it the DEATH BOUNCE. I have also read about screwing up the ball joints. But, most of what I have read pertains to older models.

I would like to get your thoughs on doing this mod. Should I get a different kit? Or does that matter at all? Will I experience a big difference in the way the truck will ride?

Thankss.

Typically once you lift a truck and put larger/wider tires on it, it will wear out parts slightly faster that in stock form. It's like towing a trailer, it adds to the stress put on the vehicle.

As for a 2" leveling kit, that's a small lift. And you will only be able to install 33" tires so the strain you are going to add to the truck will be minimal.

Hope this helps.

If I'm reading your post correctly, you are just having the 2" leveling kit on the front - right? Once you have it realigned you shouldn't notice much (if any) difference in the handling characteristics....

When I added the 2" leveling kit on my 05 FX4 my front suspension was a stiffer for sure. I don't know how they are for the 09 yet and would like more info on them myself as this is one of the mods I would like to do to my truck as well, I cant stand the nose dive look they have from the factory.

I would hate to add this mod and then not be happy with it after all was said and done.

No, I decided to hold off until I got more information. I think that I am going to get it done this Friday. I will post pictures afterwards.

Most leveling kits is a spacer that goes on top of the existing suspension. The coil and spring rate is not effected, thus handling remains identical to that of factory. I only noticed a difference the day after leveling it. Instead of feeling like I was constantly braking (nose down), I felt like I was riding high and had better visibility of the rear of the tailgate. A win-win IMO. Looking at rough country's kit, it adds a spacer to the top and bottom of the coil. http://www.roughcountry.com/suspensi...-leveling.html

How do you think that this would affect the ride? Do you think I should get an AS leveling kit instead?

I should not effect the ride at all. As I mentioned it is a spacer that does not change the coils at all. I personally have an AS and would recommend it because they are quality and cheaper than most other brands. $73 on ebay shipped.
