2004 F150 with IRS??
I remember reading in Four Wheeler mag that the 04 f150 was going to be offered with Independent Rear Suspension. I hope this is optional. I strongly believe in the live axle that i've had in the rear of my last 5 trucks. Anyone know anything about it?
It's bad enough lifting IFS, I think the cost would just go up with IRS. Plus I don't see it being good for towing or payload.

I wouldn't expect to see an independent rear suspension in an F-150. Ford knows that most F-150 owners tow and use their bed and need a solid rear axle.
I don't really see the piont of an IRS F-150 either. The wheel base is too long and the truck is just plain too heavy to be a serious off-road, go anywhere vehicle.

it's no different than IRS in the SUV's. Yes these trucks are supposed to haul, but so are the bigass Excursions being driven to the supermarket.
There are just wayyy to many soccer moms driving these things and dont have a single scratch in the bed.
IRS would probably be an option on XLT and Lariat with solid axle being standard.

Ford may do independent suspentionin the back on the F150s but leave the superduties alone.
If they do make the change it will most likley will NOT be an option, a one for all and all for one type of thing. Can you imagine the assembly line cost of having 2 diffrent rear ends!!!!
Also if the Expedition has the 4 wheel independent suspention then the F150 I would guess will most defanatly follow for production cost purposes.
