Power Steering fluid for a 2006 F 150 XLT

The owners manual says "Motorcraft Mercon ATF" But all that I can find is Mercon S, L ,LV and SP but no Mercon without a suffix. So witch one is compatible?

Use any multi-vehicle ATF that's Mercon-compatible. Mercon itself is long discontinued. I use this:

As noted, you can use ANY ATF that meets the old Mercon specs or, if you want to follow Ford's recommendations, you can use Mercon V.

Don't make this harder than it needs to be....

Ford actually says Mercon, not Mercon V for the 2006 power steering, even though they say Mercon V for the trans.

In reality, power steering is not as critical as the trans, any ATF should be fine except the newer low viscosity fluids. Just don't use "power steering fluid".

.

Almost a decade and a half ago, Ford said the "Mercon" was discontinued and to use "Mercon V" in its place.

Any fluid that meets either the original or the replacement fluid's specification will work fine. Again, don't make this harder than it needs to be.
