Motorcraft fuel pump driver modules
 

I was reading a post on another forum about fuel pump driver modules, and the poster said they are having problems with the Motorcraft fuel pump driver modules. He stated that went with a Dorman. Has anyone heard of similar problems?

I've heard just the opposite.

Dorman has issues. FoMoCo doesn't.

Do you mean the module has been updated ..... or are you just referring to the use of standoffs or spacers to get it away from steel crossmember?

Just the spacers, but it was my understanding that it is best to buy a new module with the updated spacers. Can I use the same module and add some shims?

What I did wirh my '07 back in 2010. Mine was just mildly corroded, I cleaned it, clear coated it, added spacers and longer bolts. If mine was nearly in halves like some, or had a hole in it, Id replace it then.

My OE FDPM was still in good enough shape that I was able to clean it up, lube it and add my own spacers. It has been doing fine for over 5 years now. I do keep a spare ready to go just in case, though.

Can anyone recommend the proper bolt size and a good source for some spacers?

I used some longer 6mm bolts, cut heads off to make them into studs, screwed into frame, then followed with a nut to serve as jam nut and spacer, slid washer on, put FPDM in place, and finished with 6mm nyloc nuts and washers.

I can't quite remember what I used. I think I used the original bolts and a couple of brass nuts as spacers from some toilet hardware I had laying around. :lol:
