Rough ide stalling - what hose is this?

The one that connects to engine and runs behind throttle body over to vacuum drum? My hose is extremely dry rotted and brittle. Should local auto parts store have it in stock? |
What are you working on? What do you mean by "vacuum drum"?

ok just went to two local auto part stores (autozone and oreilly's) and neither one could even ID the hose.
I honestly don't know how those brick and mortars stay in biz!. anyhow, so did some additional troubleshooting. while engine running i remove the hose and there is a good deal of vacuum being sucked from the engine connection side. The hose is so old and worn it was collapsing under the pressure. I'm sure it is the problem to my idle/stalling situation. BUT what part is it? what do i refer to it as for my online searches or to order from dealer? thanks! https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...0e319a6099.jpg |
The OP is working on a 2008 F-150 FX4 that has a 5.4l 3V V8.
It's the purge line. Purge Line - Ford (5L3Z-9D289-A) https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...3c4b8582cb.jpg |
Thx. I got it replaced with regular non collapsible fuel line. Did not solve my rough idle stalling problem however. |
When I asked what you were working on, I was asking what year and model truck you had. You need to create a signature or identify your truck in every post you make asking for assistance.
Rough idle and stalling? Check for codes, how many miles on the spark plugs? |

Rough idle and stalling? Check for codes, how many miles on the spark plugs? Plugs are brand new. Just changed along with all new coils and boots. It did not fix my rough idle and stalling issue. I do have a p0420 that has kept the service engine light on for the last couple years but the truck has run great until now despite that. i think am at the point to buy a new passenger side cat and replace it myself to resolve that code. Have I done damage by not fixing that before now? |
If the cat is plugged, that sure could cause it. Take it to a muffler shop and get both sides of the exhaust tested for excessive backpressure. The throttle body may be sticking and need cleaning.
