2004 f150 PATS reset?

If I get a bad transceiver code and change it, do I have to reset the security system somehow?

On a dealer or a locksmith can do it....

Oh okay. I thought I read that if you’re just changing the transceiver that you don’t have to have it programmed. I have 2 keys and neither work. I just didn’t know if I could change the transceiver and maybe that could solve my issue? I’ve had an issue with my truck starting in park and even neutral. I put it off like an idiot. I’d just move the shifter back and forth while messing with the key and it would always start.

That's not a PATS issue, it's an issue with the MLPS (neutral safety switch).

Yeh I figured that was. I had that issue for a while. But now PATS has my truck locked up. No crank, no start, and the cluster isn’t working. Fuel pump makes a ding noise when I turn the key on. I’m just wondering if messing with the key/switch for that long might have damaged the transceiver since it’s throwing a code that it isn’t working.

PATS doesn't prevent it from cranking, it just won't start. The MLPS will prevent it from cranking.

Starting with the 2004 NBS, PATS will indeed interrupt the starter on the F150.

Nope. The transceiver is just an antenna, it can be replaced as needed without other complications.

Thank you very much!

I stand corrected! Thank you.
