2007 f150 chug shifting at 45 mph
so I bought a 2007 F150 supercab 8' box 3 years ago with only 83,000 miles on it. 2 weeks later the Tranny conked out. I have read about many downfalls about this truck, but the tranny was never one of them. Regardless warranty paid for the tranny fix but since I bought the truck and before the tranny issue it would chug to engage the gear around 45 mph.
It only happens in OD and not with tow haul engaged. I have been driving it with this same consistent issue for 3 years now without it getting better or worse. If there is an explanation to it i would love to hear it.

Automatic transmissions have gotten better within recent years, but they are still electo-mechanical. It also depends on what the truck did before you bought it. Did they do a lot of towing? Those are the determining factors.
A while back, I had a 2003 Ford Escape that went through 4 -- yes, 4 CD4E transmissions. Granted it wasn't one of Ford's brightest moments putting a junk hodge-podged transmission (same one used in the Mercury Cougar, and the Mercury Mystique (AKA Mercury Mistake!), etc). It was meant for a car not a SUV, even the techs admitted to it.
With that being said, the transmissions in these trucks are a heck of a lot better than say a CD4E, but they aren't infallible to abuse.
