I would just change the boots. Those plugs for your truck are supposed to have the brown boots, that is what I would want on it.

i have heard mixed reviews - would like to replace the coil also.
so assuming i did go with the coils (in link i shared), would those work on my late 2008 ford f150?

Nope, you need DG521, not DG511.

I highly recommend that if you want to replace the coils, you do not use any of those cheap aftermarket Chinese coils. Use Motorcraft, Denso, or Delphi. If you are not getting any misfires, just clean up what you have or replace just the boots and springs.

hmm interesting well I installed the cheap Chinese pos's and the truck is running fine. Even with the ones you are saying are wrong ones. And do you realize it's a $33 vs $400 purchase with what you are suggesting? I appreciate the advice but I'd be an idiot not to give the $33 coils a try especially after I have read others have had good luck with them.
