Is the roll in bearing idea plausible ??? I really don't want to take this motor out and do a full rebuild right now. At the end of the day it's a work truck and just needs to run decent, not a show truck.

Worked great on my 1977 351M back in 1992, it's had good oil pressure ever since. Did bearings and HV oil pump on my back.

But that is a different animal. 5.4s are more picky I think. Anything partially blocking an oil path is serious. I've heard that just a F**m filter is grounds for refusal to warranty? On the other hand, have seen a local farmer get 417K working miles on an '06 5.4 3V

Might be a stupid brain fart but how is your balancer? Any wobbles?

I did not notice any vibration or crank wobbles. I recall looking there when I was first trying t o figure out where that whining noise was coming from.

That being said no one has ever answered the question of what year 5.4L were better/worse than the others. I know Makuloco said the thrust washer issue was in 2007 but obviously my 05/06 has the issue.

Thoughts ?
