Bad iwe?

06, I have the grinding, pretty sure it's passenger side.
Front was locked when in 2wd, check valve was plugged with debris, cleared it. unlocked and normal 2wd but still grinding while driving. i discovered the vacuum check valve is bad, can blow both ways.
Waiting for parts, iwe, check valve, hub assembly and tie rod ends because there's some play in wheel, to arrive this week before I take it apart.
.
I plugged the lines so iwe would stay engaged but still get the noise.
could the iwe be stuck half engaged ?
Thanks

If an IWE is partially engaged for any significant length of time due to any of the other components in the system failing, it can grind the IWE up to the point where it will no longer function properly. You'll find out when you remove it to put the new one it. They can get pretty ugly.

Not everyone cleans their engine bays like myself, but while lightly pressure washing my engine bay I learned that the new updated module is not water proof. It simply redirects water to roll over its sides. I ruined an IWE this way.

I don't pressure wash.
Did you do any mods to try and make it more waterproof?

check valves

How many check valves did you have? I've only found 2 on my 04 and I thought there were 3. I've recently replaced my hub actuators and solenoid but still getting the rattling sound on the passenger side.
