Air conditioner woes
Our air conditioner started making noises a couple of days ago. Yesterday it quit blowing air at all but would suddenly start bowing again. Today no air at all. In researching the issue I came across a couple different posible causes: blower motor resistor or blower motor. Do either of these sound right?

Year of the truck?
manual ac or auto temp control? I assume you are talking about the blower not working? The blower started making noises? what kind of noises? |
2004 F150 manual ac....yep blower not working. Sounded like a hard rattle or like a card stuck in bicycle spokes. Got worse the higher the fan was turned on.

Sounds like a new blower or blower motor is the ticket. The resistor wouldn't cause it to make noise.

Ok thanks. That's what I was thinking.

When the resistor goes, the fan works in highest speed only and should not make any unusual noises.

That sounds like leaves or something got into the fan. |
Haven't really worked on vehicles that much but the YouTube video to replacing the fan motor looks pretty straightforward. Is this something I should take to a mechanic or would I be safe to try and replace myself?

DIY. It's about the simplest repair that you can do.
