Replacing rack and pinion

I posted this in the Other Powertrain section and got zero responses so I'll ask here. My rack is developing a tick in it. I traced the noise to the rack, most likely the input shaft. Has anyone replaced the rack themselves or know what would be involved? I'm wondering if its something I can do myself, dropping it out is easy enough but the hydraulic lines are what concern me, needing special tools or even crimping hoses?

I would think it would be a straight forward easy swap. There are just two hydraulic hoses, two tie rods, and two bolts, and maybe an electrical connector.

I removed you other thread to eliminate confusion. Try using the search button above, and do an advanced search using "rack and pinion". I think you will find some threads on it and maybe some help. Also do a search using "steering shaft"

This might be of some assistance as well:

That is in the Articles and How To section.
