Hello,
I have a 2006 F150. I believe I have a loose wire, or possibly a short, specifically in either the +12V constant or the +12V ignition to the instrument cluster.

While driving, all power to the dash goes out. all gages go out, and the stereo (aftermarket) goes off as well.

Sometimes, if I am driving on rough terrain, the power will come back and go out intermittently.

1- Has anyone had this problem before?
2- can you help me identify the +12V constant and the +12V ignition power to the instrument panel so I can troubleshoot?
3- any recommendations on troubleshooting this?

Start by examining the wiring for the aftermarket stereo. Remove it, if you have to, as it's a variable that we cannot account for.

 

Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, the problem was there before I installed the aftermarket stereo. It got worse after I installed it, but I think that's because I aggravated whatever the loose wire is.

 

If you have details like that, you should include them up front.

Next time it fails, check other accessories like the windows, locks, and wipers and see what their status is.
