How Do I Fix It?

Well my F-150 is nickle and diming me again. Went to press the Parking or E-brake and got no resistance. It went right to the floor. Crawled underneath truck and found this cable disconnected on the driver's side. Anyone run into this problem? If so what parts will I need so I can just repair it without having to go back to the dealer for parts 10 times to get the job done. Are the shoes and everything shot? Do I just rebuild each side?

The e-brake cable disconnecting from the e-brake acctuators? Not a problem at all, and an easy enough fix to do by yourself. I did both of mine this spring when they failed my truck inspection for the e-brake.

Here is my posting on some of the fixes, scroll down to see some of the photos and my blabber.

Here is the video I quoted in that post of Briansmobile doing this to a Ford truck.

If you work on you own truck, it should be easy enough to repair. You just need to give it a good inspection and see what is the problem.

There are lots of utube videos you can watch.

Thanks Darren for the video. I'll fix it in 2 weeks when I planned on doing my brakes and rotors. I guess since it was going to happen I'm glad it happened now.

the cable might simply be broken somewhere between the pedal and the diff.
