Is my truck Flex Fuel capable?
So I've had my truck every since she rolled off the lot in 2008 and I have a yellow gas cap which said E85 but at the time it wasn't widely available in the area I lived in and the dealer never mentioned it. After the blower was installed a few thousand miles later she's been drinking 93 octane every since. A thread about FFV fuel filters got me thinking though since I had similar issues with fuel filters fitting.
I went to propelfuels.com and according to them if my F150 VIN's 8th character is V then I do...and mine has a V but is there any other way to tell? I don't have a Flex Fuel badge but maybe that started in 2009.
As far as benefits I assume it means my lines will hold up using E85? Also sounds like if the lines have to be fixed at some point I'll need E85 approved lines as well.
I wonder what the blower would do on a E85 diet ha.

The FlexFuel engine was pretty much standard by 2008. So, that being said, don't run e85 in it if you can avoid it. It's not good stuff, and even the Ford manual recommends shorter oil change intervals and running a tank of regular fuel for every 4-5 tanks of e85 you run. You also end up with much worse fuel mileage, which doesn't generally outweigh the lower pump price of e85. Do yourself a favor and just keep running 91/93 octane.
