Irritating chime, 2006 F150

I just purchased a used 2006 F150, Extended cab, 4X4. About 1 minute after cranking the engine there are 5 chimes a pause then 5 more. This happens 4 times then it stops. It does it again about 30 to 45 minutes later. Does anyone have any idea as to what is causing this? The mechanic the dealer is using has had no luck stopping it.

Are you wearing your seatbelt?

If not then that's probably it and if you are look at the info center on the dash and see what message it's showing whil the chime is going off

air bag chime?!

My 2000 F-150 has started the same thing. After a couple days into it I noticed the air bag light on the dash is out. I cut off the passenger side w/key & the light did not come on. Tried this a couple times, nothing. Neither light is on. Does this mean my air bags are not working for some crazy reason? Maybe a fuse? I've had this truck for 16 years & this is a first!

Check your owner's manual?? Usually there is a section in there that tells you what these indications mean.

What glc said - twice. Trust me, had it happen on my 2005. And you cannot just replace a bulb. You have to replace the switch. Pretty easy job.

This is described in the owner's manual.

While the fault *might* include a burned out PAD bulb (common), it's actually a redundant alarm that tells you 1) the primary warning airbag light is not working AND 2) there is an additional fault in the system, yet to be indicated.

Replace the bulb in the cluster, then 1) the audible alarm will silence and 2) you will get a power-on two digit flash code that will guide you in determining the underlying fault. LFC 27 is for the PAD bulb, FYI.
