cabin heat/cool blower problem?

The cabin blower doesn't to be working correctly. When the fan speed is set on level1 ,2, or 3 there is no discernable difference between them, with very little air being moved. Although when the fan speed is set to 4 it seems to be working fine. Why would this be?

The blower resistor has burned out.

Blower resistor/fan speed controller is toast.

Manual or automatic climate control? What year truck?

You should be able to pick up an aftermarket replacement at your local parts store for under $25. Inspect the electrical connector for heat damage BEFORE going to the store as you may need a replacement pigtail also.

The replacement is easy once you find the part. Autozone has a bunch of online repair manuals which should help you, if you need them.

blower resister

I also have a 2004 ,, mine went out couple of years ago,, not blowing on 1 & 2
resistors were behind glove box,, just squeeze ends of glove box and it pulls out, there are 2 resistors on left side panel,, one for 3/4 and one for 1/2. forgot which but once you find rite one just pull n replace it ,, dealer wanted like $80 to do and part was like $16,, no brainer,, just find rite resistor to replace. should be somewhere on this site,, i found it and did it ,, good luck.:thumber:

No, there isn't. It's a single module for all speeds.

on mine it was 2

If it is the same as my 2002, I replaced the resistor without taking out the glovebox. Easy job. Just have to get on the floor of the truck to get to the resistor.

Then you do not have a 2004 F150. Ford didn't make any such animal as you've described.

jpmpd 03-31-2015 09:04 AM

u r wrong

then they musta lied to me when i bought it new in 2004,, found the video in this site,, shows exactly how easy it is to do,, i would not lay on floor,, just pop out glove box,, like i said,, piece of cake,, just do it. this does not apply to your 2001 truck,, as he says,, 2004 up.

projectSHO89 04-01-2015 05:43 PM

You are quite mistaken. There are NOT two separate resistor packs split between the motor speeds. Ford has never made any such thing.

Here, go watch THIS video. Pay attention (if it's even possible) just before the 4:00 minute mark.

Thanks everyone. I just installed the resistor and that solved the problem
