5 lug conversion

New guy here... Let me start off by picking your brains. Can I convert my 6 lug 2wd to an earlier model 5 lug? Looking for more wheel options. I have a 99 f150 for parts, so it would be a cheap swap if so. My truck is an 05 f150 2wd

You can with wheel spacer adapters with a new lug pattern. You may need to go with a spacing of 1.5" though. Any less you will need to cut studs down to clear properly. Personally I would just stick with the 6x135 wheels and sell some of the older F150 stuff. Good pre-owned market for stuff these days.

I too would stick with the 6 lugs ..... for strength if no other reason.

Most of the wheels for the older 5 lug pattern are not going to clear the front brakes anyway and the offsets are wrong for good wheel bearing life.

Don't swap to a 5-lug pattern just because you have some old F-150 parts laying around. Sell them for cash on CL or something, lol. There are tons of 6-lug wheels out there since most all modern full-size trucks are 6-lug, so you won't find many more options in 5-lug.

Instead of starting a new thread, this one might be a good place to ask.....I'm about to replace the 18" wheels and tires on my GT500 with a set of 20" and while wondering where I would stash the stock wheels, it occurred to me that I might be able to stash them on my truck. Is there an adapter I could use to put my SVT five-lug wheels on my pickup?

You might find the needed spacer adapters on Ebay (almost anything is there) or one of the online wheel outfits. Not sure what the weight / load rating on those wheels are.

Funny, everyone with a 97-03 trucks says the 5x135 doesn't offer many wheel choices

I might have to look into that. Of course, I'd still end up with an extra set of wheels and tires to store, so I guess it probably wouldn't be worth the trouble.
