2007 5.4 false overheating
I had a new water pump put on my truck last week and on the way home from the shop I noticed the temp gauge going past the middle marker a little and regulate itself back down, it did that a few times. Later on that day driving it I heard a dinging sound and my panel said to check gauges and I saw my temp gauge in the hot marker so I pulled over popped the hood but not overheating. I got back in started my truck back up and the temp gauge went right back to it's normal range. I took it back to the shop the next day and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it but it's hit the hot mark on the gauge a few times but hasn't overheated and now at times the engine roars and I think it's the fan and now it feels like I've lost some power.. I don't see any leaks or any drip marks on the ground and I have no idea whats going on. One mech said it might be the cylinder head temp sensor... Does anyone out there know anything about this issue? Thanks

The thread starter has only 1 post! LoL. Anyhow, there will always be multiple threads on same subjects but how it's advertised via subject title will always differ. Feeding the forum with all of our info can definitely help the search database with more content. Sometimes I just want to start a new thread for the sake of not having to skim through pages of a popular topic (i.e. "grinding noise", etc.) while I try to narrow down my possible solutions to my truck's symptoms. I used to have a TOyota until it got stolen so I decided to try another brand and I find this forum very helpful. I'm shocked to see so many issues and now know why some people choose to go with another brand of truck. HOwever, it's always comes down to the preventative maintenance and since I had recently purchased my SCREW I'm willing to make this my project of all sorts and have it running another 200k ;-)

Anthony, the 2004 was the first year of a new generation, which can be iffy with any brand and type vehicle. The only real issues were the 5.4 3 valve, not one of Ford's better engines, and 2004 was the first year for it. The VCT system along with the timing chains, tensioners, and oil pump is not noted for long life. The spark plug issue was just bad design.
