Hey everyone,I have an 08 f150 4.2 and the crankshaft seal (one of the 10 different names) is leaking.well we got everything off and are looking at the seal.
My question is how does it come out???
Do we pull it out from the front or do we have to take the timing cover off???

If we just pull it out from the front how or what tool do we use???? Ive searched google with no luck whatsoever

not sure if this is the right application but I used to use wood screws or metal dry wall screws. screw them in on each side and then pull with hands.

To install crankshaft seals on my 93 tercel a PVC pipe was used.

Ended up getting the job done!!!! Thank you!!!!!!
My buddy insisted looking on youtube to find some help and ill tell ya guys,im not the most proud of them but hey....they got the job done

Ill try adn explain
1)to get the fan clutch assembly off the water pump pulley we found a guy that took a pneumatic hammer with a sharp tip bit,put the bit on a 45° angle on a flat edge of the bolt that holds the fan on the pulley and give the gun a blip or 2.the bolt spun loose the first blip and no damage was done:thumbsup:

2) not at all proud of this!!! Super super stupid but worked.so we couldnt get the harmonic balancer bolt off,so we found a vid where the guy puts a breaker bar with the socket on the balancer bolt and the bar on a piece of the trucks frame(this gets scary and extremely stupid)...with the bar on the frame and socket on the bolt just turn the motor over!!!!!!!!!!!!! The torque from the motor actually broke the bolt loose and no damage!!!

After everything is said and done the truck runs great and no leaks,BUT I will never ever do the breaker bar method on a balancer again!!!!! Ive built off road trucks, street cars,7 second cars, motorcycles, boats, everything and that has never even been a thought to even attempt
