Noise from Dash
I have a noise that is created whenever I set the autotemp. At different times I hear a low level grunting. Almost sounds like an air damper is attempting to rotate and needs greased but I wouldn't even know where to start.
Anyone out there have this or fixed it? |
Might want to read up on Blend Doors...

Blend door motor. I don't have autotemp, but mine makes the loud clicking when it is on full cold setting. If I back the temp off slightly, it does not do it.

"blend doors".
Thanks guys. I'll do some research and if I can I just want to hit with some silicone spray or something to make it last longer. |

Yeah, I've been doing research. Dang. It doesn't bother me I'm just afraid something is wearing out. But if it takes that much, let it wear out and break. *THEN* I'll take care of it.

If you have the "auto temp" A/C, you can run this diagnostic check;
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/98...self-test.html If the blend door actuator/motor is bad, you can replace it without removing the dash. Remove the radio and the glove box to access the part. The spaces are small, and it's tedious [screws are hard to get to], but the motor can be replaced in about an hour or so. |

The passenger side can be done if you have the hands of a 5yo...or a lot of patience....been there done that. |
I did not know there were two of them. Here's a general info video for the "easy" one. This guy does a lot of good "how to" videos, and says he'll have one for the driver side blend motor soon.
