Stock Radio and aux plug

I recently purchased a 2007 F150 XLT Supercrew and it had the stock radio with 6 CD and Aux plug in top of dash. I attempted to use the AUX plug and ended up losing the left speakers. Took to stereo shop and they had to replace wires to left speakers to get them to work... The technician only said that he wouldn't use the aux plug and that for some reason it wasn't grounding correctly, but he wasn't able to do anything about it.

Has anyone had a problem like this? I have seen some sites that say they can refurbish the stock radio, but I'm not ready to drop $180 on that without some research.

All suggestions are welcome - thanks.

I can't imagine how replacing the wires helped anything unless the wires melted from the voltage (highly unlikely). I don't disagree that there could be a grounding issue, but it could be difficult to diagnose. I would probably start by replacing the aux cable to the back of the HU to see if that solves it. Otherwise, the short is probably internal to the stereo and it would be cheaper to buy an aftermarket stereo which would have a lot more functionality (although you'd lose the 6-disc).

HI when u plug in the aux make sure its in good might have to turn it. That was happening to my truck a 2007 also, nephew was playing music from my phone and i was like why it so quite and my drivers speaker wasn't working with the aux, so played with the plug and then it was working, i thought my speakers were no good also.
