Shudder at specific rare scenario

I have a shudder that happens when turning right at a grade of about 10% while accelerating, and only on that condition. While making a routine drive somewhere, there's a turn with that one condition. Every time it shudders. It doesn't bother me because it happens so rarely, so I'm just curious more than anything if someone knows why.

Only while turning right? I'd be inclined to think it has something to do with the 4x4 IWE hub trying to engage if you're 4WD. If not, then I'd think it was something suspension-related.

Good call on that one. Definitely another option to look at depending on where he thinks the chatter is coming from.

My axle is a 3.55 non-LS diff. I replaced end links a couple months ago. I'll retorque those and see. Problem is I move this weekend so I won't have the exact spot to reproduce the shudder. It only matters to me if it's a sign or symptom of a larger problem. Any further advice is appreciated.

Define shudder? Does it feel like a driveline "bump" ? If so it could be a low grade misfire

The whole truck vibrates at a fast frequency for about 5-6 seconds.

Sounds like a misfire to me. Before I changed my plugs, there's an on ramp near my house and the slight miss would always hit at a certain rpm while driving on it. Just my 2c's.

What's strange is the previous owner changed the plugs about 10k miles ago but I haven't yet confirmed if they are Motorcraft plugs, if he changed the COPs, and if those are Motorcraft as well. I've heard our trucks can be picky about those parts.

That problem shouldn't show up in relation to turning. Generally, the spark plug/COP misfire rears it's head above 40mph once it has shifted into O/D and the torque converter is locked. Then when you apply throttle to accelerate, but not enough to cause a downshift, the truck will shudder under the increased load. It's a high-load, low RPM instance that isn't apparent much in the low gear or low speeds unless it's multiple cylinders misfiring.

Noted. Anyone's further advice is appreciated if you're knowledgeable.

I replaced end links with MOOG about two months ago, which I have not retorqued since installation and are quiet. Everything else stock.

164K miles. 2WD.

You might have carrier bearing or Ujoints going out.

Do you feel it in the floor or steering wheel more?

It's also possible it's just a funky section of pavement and you have nothing wrong with the truck
