Engine light on...gas cap not sealing?
Not related to my plug change.
I had my mechanic check for codes because my engine light came on over a year ago. He asked if I had filled up recently and I said yes that very day. He said it was showing a code that had to do with the cap not sealing properly. He cleared code, removed and re tightened cap. Within 5 minutes it came back on.
Can/should I replace the fuel cap to remedy this? Is this common??

Best I can tell, a new cap should remedy this. The sensor is very particular--a few months back, I ran in my Dad's truck to get the Sunday paper and out fuel in it. About a mile down the road, his info screen popped up Check Guages. I ran it the 10 miles to the station, pumped new fuel, made sure to tighten the cap properly (only took one turn to make it pop off) and within 5 miles, the message disappeared and has not returned.
