249,000 on OEM plugs in 5.4 3v
That's what he had. Odometer 249,000 miles, still on OEM plugs.
Customer came in to store a couple days ago, driving a 2009 F-150 5.4. Wanted to see what CEL was on for. We walk out, and as we walk he says it's been on a couple months but truck ran OK so he kept driving, but that in last day or so ..... started to miss some under power. Cylinder 8 "dead", no question. Soon he'll loose a cat.
Nice looking red truck on outside, interior could use a couple day's cleaning though ..... he drives constantly in his work, usually trades every 5 years, has his eyes on a blue 2014 at local dealership. If they don't trade, he says he'll get the plugs changed.
Wonder how he is about oil and filters and trans service?

I forgot that I had posted this thread until I opened the forum up this morning.
Well, just this past Thursday in my deliveries I took a set of rotors and brake pads to that shop and there on the lift is this same truck. The fella had dropped it off Thursday morning for brake service for inspection.
"The rest of the story" on plugs .... he did bring it in and get them to change plugs back in early August after he found out local dealer would give him a max of $5500 on this truck due to the miles (and it needed plugs still then) towards that 2014 Blue F150 they have. He owes just over $7K on it, so he decided to keep it. The plugs cured his miss, says it runs perfect now. Found out he is pretty good about oil and trans service, etc ..... just ran the plugs way too long.
Truck is now over 250,000 miles. Even looks like he's cleaned it up and possibly waxed it .... maybe because he decided to keep it?
