Well took the plunge. Ordered all the phaser and timing stuff. 1000 dollars worth of well spent money I guess. Hopefully start tearing into it tomorrow after work. I have a bay available to tear into it at work thankfully. I have a way better selection of tools there.

I hate odd noises coming from my truck. Also have a new set of brake pads for the front. The ones I have on there squeal like a son of a bitch every now and again. Really drives me nuts, especially since they've only been on for 8 months.

I'll grab more pictures once I tear into it.

No tint on the heads. Just flat black on all the inner workings. The reflection, and camera makes them look slightly tinted I guess.

$100 for a Harley grill? Dang . . .

My brakes squeal too, have for at least a year and a half, and I've had them torn apart 3 times now. They keep checking out and nothing's wrong, apparently. Irritates the hell out of me though, so I can relate lol.

Good luck on the phaser change.

Day 1 progress. 2.5 hours worth of work. Only have the p/s pump, and cover bolts left. I must say, the biggest pain thus far are the valve covers. Once those were off, it was easy sailing.

No pictures of the phasers yet. Both springs were sprung, as well as the passenger phaser is not square. Could probably get away with just phasers, but I will change all the timing related components as well. No sense having a ****ty seal on one of the tensioners or vct solenoid housings.

7.5 hours to complete the job. Everything is back together and running good. Forgot how noisy these injectors are. But she's quiet, runs strong again.

I've developed a slight shudder and knocking when I'm driving. Very intermittent, and unrelated to this job I'm sure. I can feel it mostly in the steering wheel. Almost feels like a bad front hub bearing.

I'm headed back to the shop to give it one more once over and probably change out my front brakes. That way it can give the wheels a spin. Both front hubs have been replaced in the last year, so if it happens to be one, it'll get replaced under parts warranty.

Thanks, it was decent on time. Lost the most time getting the passenger valve cover off. It's a tad right in there.

Through going over all the processes of the job, I think I may have my slight shudder figured out. A few times I stood on the front cross member to reach farther in, I'm wondering if I may have bent the brake line going to the passenger steer calliper.

That's about the only thing I can think of at the moment. I'm about to head back to the shop now to take a better look and make sure I have no leaks from the rest of the job.

It's got to be a low grade misfire. It seems like it's most prevalent around 1800 rpm. I'm not throwing any codes, I triple checked the timing.

I almost think I may have a coil going out. I guess I will have to let it get worse. I have no vacuum leaks, no oil leaks, all the sensors, and connections are plugged in. I don't know. I'm at a wits end with it for today. Thought this phaser job would be the end all for the time being. Guess I'll have to dig further tomorrow.

I've got 30,000km on them. They should still be good I would think. That was the first thing I changed when I bought the truck. Mind you I could pull them and inspect.

I would hate to throw parts at it.
