Older person truck yes. I have the same out look. I wouldn't spend the 2500 on one personally. But for free, I won't turn it down. Looks like an oversize suv. But like I said, I don't usually haul too much.

Thanks!

So I've been thinking, I currently have the spectre cai, and through reading, have realized it's some what regarded as junk. So on that note, what intakes are regarded as good? Volant, afe? Reason being, I found a guy that is local, that will tune my truck. He's highly regarded, and has my friends 5.3 putting out over 500 horse. Granted I know the engine has been built, but I also know that he should be able to do better than the canned edge tunes I'm running right now.

It also helps that he is local. But I was thinking about a better cai, and finally getting long tubes and a full true dual exhaust before the tune. Mostly to help get some better results.

Also, from the rocker arm, and the slight wear on the camshaft, I will be replacing all the rockers and lash adjusters, as well as cams.

This will also be done pretune, because I've been toying with the thought of putting after market cams in. Going to replace them anyways. Been reading up on quite a few different ones. I would love the hot rod cams. That lumpy sound is pretty appealing. What would you guys recommend for cams? If I have to do valve springs as well that's not an issue.

The FRPP cams sure sound decent in 5.4s.

Ordered a volant cai. Be here tomorrow. Couldn't pass it up. On sale from 427 to 282 through a supplier here at work. Curious to see what kind of a difference it makes over my spectre.

I have a Volant I bought used for $150, had my tune re-tuned for it and it feels like good intake. Mid to high RPM improvements. 0 to 60 is a few tenths faster, 1/4 mile on my gryphon is only .5 better. No drone increase.

Well that sounds promising. Does PHP still do the gryphon? I have you basic cts, decided to update it last night. Noticed a few things changed. Mileage reading can be either average or instantaneous, and when tuning you can choose several different cai's. Unfortunately no volant. Going to play with it a bit more after work today.

Cai is in. Better overall. Doesn't growl as much as the spectre, and I kind of miss that. But it's better, noticed my mileage has came up about 0.5mpg at this point, and that's only a few blocks worth of driving. Will be hitting the highway Sunday, and will have a better comparison then.

Looks good an clean. I was going to post a video of after my install, but being as you have yours in already there isn't a need. Here are my stats I posted in it though.

1/4 mile with previous tune & OEM intake: 16.050
1/4 mile with Volant CAI: 16.020
1/4 mile with Volant CAI tuned: 15.990

0 - 60 with stock intake: 8.33
0 - 60 with Volant CAI: 7.73
0 - 60 with Volant CAI tuned: N/A

I will have to check my records for my 1/4 and 0-60. I haven't done any testinf since last summer. I plan on getting out with it tomorrow.

Also going to talk to the guy about some custom tunes. But I want to hold off until I get my exhaust done.

Those times are pretty good for a n/a truck. You should post the video too.

That is beauty.

Painted my calipers and brackets. Decided on silver and satin black. Would love to do red calipers, but I don't quite know if that's the look I want. Also re-plastidipped the front wheels. Still have to tackle the rears.

Well got the last two wheels redone, and also rotated the tires. Repainted the front calipers, and painted the rears. Wasn't sure about red, but I think it turned out ok.

Also, went for a nice cruise to the hills. We've had over 9 inches of rain in just under 3 days last week. Had to check out some areas we go quadding at.
