Factory Remote Start Issue
Factory Remote Start Issue
Hello, I purchased a new to me 2004 F150 FX4 with the new body style. It came with the factory installed remote start with the single button remote. When I first tried it nothing would happen when I pressed the button. I found instructions on how to program a new remote so I did that, now when I press the button, the parking lights flash once, but that is it. I tried to learn the tach, but the horn never started to honk. I thought it might have been in valet mode, but I tried the method to set it, ignition on press button 3 times, the horn honked 6 times, but it still just flashes the parking lights once.
I can't find any posts with similar issues, and nothing I the guides I found was helpful.
I'm not sure if anyone has a suggestion, or if I should just be looking at replacing it.

I have Ford remote start system also. I believe it is actually made by Code Alarm and sold as a dealer installed option. For mine, I have to push and hold the remote start button for 2 seconds for the system to engage, not just a single momentary push. Truck will chirp the horn once it receives the start command. If I just push the button and release, the lights flash but truck will not start.
I did find something interesting today. Ihave the remote with one button, and the 3 button remote for lock and unlock. I was going through the units programming options and was using the rmst template, but I found mine was going into banks that rmst didn't have. Are these units smart enough to only go into feature banks that match your hardware?
