So you had to purchase it from the dealer?

You can most likely get OEM cheaper from tascaparts.com than you can from the dealer.

Trans temps were continually running 20-30 deg higher than normal. The bypass is thermally regulated. They can go bad at times..mine did.

Would removing this bypass and connecting the lines to always flow fluid through the cooler be a bad thing in warmer climates, say NC? It only really gets cold one or two weeks. I'm thinking about removing it to keep the transmission form running warm if it ever fails. I don't have a transmission temp gauge, so I wouldn't know if it failed.

Decided to log a test drive with my hptuners and noticed my trans temps were high. 200+ the whole time. I'm not ok with that. I'm going to just remove it all together. It's not cold enough in Louisiana to worry about overcooling. I don't see how that's an issue anyway since the tranny fluid is heated up by the radiator.

Btw I checked the cooler lines with air and fluid was flowing fine.

Any chance of you reporting back the fittings you buy to bypass it? I'm thinking of doing the same.

I'm using it, I just modified it to stay open. I removed the c-clip, pulled the thermal assembly apart and flipped the brass plunger upside down. Then I used a grinder to shorten the metal rod that the plunger normally goes in so it will keep the plunger shoved tight against the hole in the top of the assembly where the fluid is normally rerouted back to the trans. I'm sure thats not the technical term for it but you'll see it if you remove it. This completely blocks the middle hole where fluid is normaly rerouted back to the transmission.

I apologize if I confused anyone, it was really simple to do. I'll post pics if anyone is interested.

I'll post some when get back home Monday. Put about 400 miles on my truck since I blocked the assembly and it's been just fine. The auxiliary tranny cooler is definitely cooler to the touch after its been driven for awhile, and I feel much better knowing i don't have to worry about it sticking closed. I'll hook my laptop up to it and get some real numbers when we get back.

I guess you never got back home.

Does anyone have a workshop manual handy? How do you remove the unit? I am considering removing the unit, then just bridging the cooling and return lines, so that the cooler isn't bypassed at all. Haynes Manual doesn't have a page on removing the unit.
