did 5.4 plug change(with complications)

yeah,yeah.. I'm sure one can find everything with multiple searches. However, I didn't find all issues I had put together and thought I would share my experience with hopes it will help someone.

went ahead and changed mine with 102,000 last saturday.Motorcraft 515's. BTW, I ordered from Amazon and all came in loose banging into each other and had to send them back and purchase locally.

After hours of online research, I followed the PB blaster, carb cleaner method.(thank you to all that did awesome write ups with pics!) with the loosen/tighten method(very important).

only one broke(due to my haste and probably my sub conscious wanting to use the Lisle tool(awesome tool).

after running the truck, it stalled repeatidly for many miles. came to find out it was the throttle body needing cleaning. seems that disconnecting the computer reset it and it didn't work well with the TB being nasty. Ran perfect right after clean.

also, 3 of wire connectors/harness on the COP's didn't "click". I could not find any info on this so I put a wrap of electrical tape on the male end(cop) and seems fine now.
one cop screw was stripped and had to drill and tap with a larger one

in all, other than the issues, wasn't too bad, plugs looks descent. took about 4.5hrs. good luck to those going to change theirs

I second that! I'm going to tackle mine when it's not 20F (MI).

Glad everything came out good in the end. I second the loosen/ tighten method. Worked wonders for me. I would have broken all 8 had I of just cranked on them.

you're probably a little far away to make that worth even shipping it. you may find a used one local to you though. I just got new as I was not sure if a used one would work as good and would recommend new. for the $60 or so, probably not worth the risk

glad to hear ya got all out ok....I like the impact though....

cleaning the throttle body, maf, and changing the fuel filter are necessary preventive maintenance steps....
