2004 stx 4.6l all stock. I have the 4x4 on the floor shift, goes into 4x4 smoothly and the light in the dash lights up but there seems to be no 4x4???
worked fine all year until now. went to leave for work, snow on the ground and was spinning so i put it in 4x4 light came on but rear wheels still spun like hell,like there was no drive from the front wheels? what do i look for to resolve this? i know the situation with the IWE's but if those were bad thats accompanied with a grinding noise REPLACED THOSE ALREADY AS WELL. Also replaced the vac solenoid. Alot of the threads talk about a electronic motor but mine is on the floor manual shift, so I think that eliminates that. Is there a known situation that the vaccum isnt released for some reason causing the IWE's not to engage the hub? Also is the front drive shaft suppose to spin in 2wd and 4wd? all I see underneath is some linkage to the transfer case and a couple sensors or swithches with their wiring.No broken vac lines or anything! I think its got something to do with the tranfercase or the vac solenoid? ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREAT!!!!!!!
