So I was backing out of my driveway yesterday and happened to find this laying under the truck. It looks to be a heat shield of some sort. But I am not sure where it goes.

I have a 05 FTX (FX4 before conversion). Can someone tell me where this part goes or snap a picture on their truck on how it was mounted.

Not sure how it came off, but I'm sure i need to get it back on.

Anyone have an idea or willing to look under their truck

i crawled under my 2012 STX regular cab. the closest thing I can see is above the muffler, there is a piece of that shield stuff.

Is it aluminum? Or what? Where under the truck was it roughly?

Maybe a heat sheild by the Transfer case and exhaust?

from an alien space craft. probably radioactive too

Well I didn't notice it till I backed out, but it was in the middle of the truck.

But as of right now I let my brother borrow the truck to drive while he was in town. Well now the brakes are so bad that the wheel locks up in reverse. Never knew they were that bad. Guess all 4 rotors are shot according to my stepdad. 75mi away from me so I haven't looked at it personally. Just ordered new pads and rotors from BuyBrakes.com. So once I get it back ill check.

Man there goes $400+ and then $600 plus to fix exhaust manifold leak!

Never had a problem with the truck till these past few months.

Brakes locking in reverse may be a problem with the e-brake shoes. They can loosen from the backing plate and jam when in reverse. Has happened before.

That's a possibility but my step dad said the pads are completely gone and ruined the rotors. And he said its just one wheel that is locking up in reverse.

Unfortunately I don't have another vehicle to go see it myself, so I just have to take their word for it. He said its not worth putting on new pads without rotors because it wil just eat up the pads from rotors being so rough.

So I got a set of PowerSlot drilled and slotted rotors and pads ordered today. Hopefully have it back within the week.

It could easily only be one wheel locking up if it is the e-btrake. You will find out no matter what as you will see the e-brake when you pull the rotors. You probably will have to back off the star on the e-brakes to get the rotors off, just like any other drum brake.
