Transfering transponder chip into new key that is a shell only?

Is there a way to cut open the factory key (has a broken blade) to put the transponder chip into a shell only key? 150 people bought this key, I'm trying to figure out how they put their transponder chip in there.

You see that this thing has to come from China? Hope you don't need it in a hurry.

why not just buy a key with the chip already there and program it yourself? Do you have 2 working keys?

I bought this one and programmed it myself: http://www.ebay.com/itm/300667689750...84.m1439.l2649

If you don't have 2 keys, just go to the dealer and get a replacement. Yeah it'll cost you $50, but it's always nice to have a spare.

If you're gonna attempt that, just got to your local hardware store or walmart and have a metal key cut, and then cut the "handle" down and match what's inside the "handle cover"

Yes you can do that. Just be careful on how you cut it. I do it all the time with Honda's and Lexus' keys. Also a few 1st gen Ford transponder keys.

Where in the handle is the chip on a 04+ key? I'm thinking how I should cut this handle open.

nevermind just tried removing the transponder chip. On the backside of the key (no ford lable) it's in the center left of the handle. It's made into the plastic, almost impossible to remove; and I cut a slit into it with the cut off wheel.

Use a high power magnet. Go around the case. The key isn't metal but the transponder is. The magnet will pick up the key when it finds the transponder. Cut it out carefully. Can be transferred to keys with built in remote.
