I didnt even think to paint my Moog uca's when I installed them with my lift a couple months ago, so instead I bought a can of the brush on plasti coat at lowes and just brushed it on the areas you can see and it turned out great.

Is that stuff brush on? And will it work well on the brake calipers as well? Just got my moogs and need to paint them and the brakes.

POR-15 is brush-on, and is designed to be used over rust.

I finally got around to replacing my bj boots with the ones from Energy Suspension and they don't fit. Using a universal part for a specific application seldom works out as intended...
The boots are just too long and the retaining clip doesn't fit the base of the boot so the boot comes unseated during reassembly of the spindle. I'm done with this for now...I've taken the front end apart twice now and I still have a busted boot (but new brakes!) so i'm gonna leave the old boot on there until its time to replace the bj.

Sorry guys...

I used Energy Suspension part# 9.12136
http://www.energysuspensionparts.com...p?prod=9.13136
Actual BJ measurements:
A: 19.5mm - .75" (pin diameter)
B: 46mm - 1.775" (base diameter)
Length: 28mm - 1.125"

ah thanks for the heads up. I'm going to pay a visit to a local well-known off-road shop in Jersey (Krazy House Customs) to see what they can possibly recommend since they have some ridiculously lifted trucks lol

I was excited when I saw you post the energy suspension boots... been looking at those to replace my torn Moog uppers as well. I emailed them asking if they had any idea. I saved my old oem UCA so I wonder if I can measure that... just not sure if it is the same as the Moog's.

Just FWIW, and I know this is an old thread, but I never made the assumption the Moog UCA ball joint is replaceable. I saw nowhere in their literature that it was, and nowhere on RockAuto did they mention it...

I thought the only replaceable joints were with UCAs like Camburgs and they use a different kind of joint all together...

1997 f 150 4x4 replaced both upper control arms, ball joints,04/2012 , Both boots are torn on the inside. They were not over greased , is there a problem with the boots ?
