So my gear indicator bulb blew in my console. I got it apart and put a blue led bulb in there and it was still green. I removed the clear plexi light diffuser and scraped off all the green. Now it's clear, but the I can't see the gears during the day and at night the light diffusion is horrible. What did all you led guys do? I was thinking about wireing a few leds under each gear number. And then putting a piece of white light diffuser on top of it. The light diffuser would be a backlight diffuser from an lcd tv that I have laying around. I think that would fix the issue, but I'd rather take an easier route if there is one.

why not put a bulb with one of those colored boots over it?

 

Those boots don't really work that well.
Your light diffuser idea should work fine.

Also a #921 bulb should work as well. It's much larger & brighter than a #194. Same base so there will be no fitment issues.

 

I got it to light perfectly. Just putting the piece of lcd backlight diffuser on there, fixed it. Nice and blue. I also hit the orange indicator with a red sharpie. I love it, though my camera can't get a good picture. I just used a 50 cent led 194 blue bulb.
