35's or 36's is the question
Hi guys. I am in a rock and a hard place here on deciding if I should get 35's or 36's. First off, let me say that I have the procomp 6001 rims which has a
-6 offset in a size 17. I have a 6" lift and I am currently running 285/75/17's which look way to small. I am after some tire hight and width to beef up the appearance of the truck. would 35's look small on a 6's lift, or should i go with a 36? Of Course, pictures are always welcome if you have a 6" with 35's or 36's. I don't mind to do a little trimming if need be to fit the 36's, just as long as I don't get that stuffed look. Any help/pics would greatly be appreciated! :beers: |
You won't really notice a big difference in 35s or 36s, but you should be able to fit 36s with no problem on a 6" lift, so either one would be good. Theres a guy on here (I can't remember his name) who had a 6" lift and 36" iroks, and they looked great on his truck.

big50 is his name! |
atleast your tires will be twice the size of your rims. Cant stand those dudes that run low pro sizes on 22's. A real off roaders rule of thumb should be that your tire should be atleast twice the size of your rim. If its not then you are considered a street queen.

i'm a a fan of a lot of sidewall rather the low profile tires, which is one reason I don't want to upgrade my rim size. Your alls trucks look good and it looks like 325's would fit/look pretty good under a 6" lift. What is the actual difference between a 35 and a 36? Is it one inch height/width difference? Sorry if these questions sound like noob stuff to some of you, but I've tried looking on the net for a side by side picture of the two and didn't come up with anything. Also, does anyone have a pic of a 33 beside a 35 or 36? That would be awesome so i can see what the differnce will be. The tires I am considering are the the nitto mud grapplers or the procomp xtreme AT's. I know the nittos are a mud tire and the procomps are a all terrain... i just haven't made my mind up with which on i want to go with. Any added info/suggestions are always welcome. To me it's more mileage with the AT's or better over all traction with the grappers. I just haven't made up my mind. I really appreciate all of the responses. Sorry I haven't been on here to reply sooner than this but my internet connection went out on me and I just got it working again.

FordToughGuy Who makes the 285/75/17s? Ive been looking for that size tire and cant seem to find it.

I rubbed with 35s on my old 05 with that same wheel, but if you don't mind trimming 36s would look wicked

here's my old ride with 325/70/17 terra grapplers

Hey thanks fordthough.. And to answer your question about the difference in size between 35 and 36" tires it honestly depends on what brand your looking at. I think my iroks actually look about the same height as the nitto mud graps even though they're advertised as a 36. A buddy of mine had 35" toyo m/t on his 150 that looked small. I'm really not sure why there is a difference between brands but there is. Also, I would stay away from 33" with a 6" lift imo. It would look way to small.
