Goods/Bads '07 F-150 XLT SCREW

Looking at a 2007 F-150 XLT SCREW tomorrow with a 5.4 motor w/61Kmi, 6.5 bed, matching cap, MRBP exhaust, cold air intake and 2 sets of wheels. What's been good and what's been bad on these. I literally just left the dealership spending $1200 on a manifold repair/replacement. This will be used around the house and pulling my 21' Four Winns Cuddy Cab boat.
I never liked buying some elses creations, but now that i'm a month of being married and have alot of "Honey Do" list, the pitch to the wife is "I has everything that I would do to it fir the same price as buying just the truck." I need not spend money on spitting spark plugs, exhaust manifold repairs, etc.

Help me out !!!

I have an 07 XLT scab and love it! I dont have cai but i do have MBRP cat backs on and they sound great! You are goin to need a programmer if it doesnt have one though for the cai. The truck is a great truck and I have no complaints what so ever!! I would recommend looking at 09-10's also...i bought my dads 07 off of his lease, and he leased a 2010 xlt screw. He loves the '10 so much more than the 07. More room, better gas mileage, bigger truck, etc!! Both are great trucks and both are very dependable

The 07 should be a good one if it has been maintained properly. You will have the sparkplug change to deal with, but it is not a deal killer.

Will be a good truck. Between my family we have/had 6 05-08 f150's. No real issues out of any of them that were fords fault.

Yea, I bet it was your brothers fault wasn't it? You've got a lot of Ford owners in the family or your brother is awful hard on them trucks!

only 2 of those trucks had issues.

1 was me driving the **** out of it, burnouts, etc and melted the rear gears.

2nd was my dads 08 with a custom tune (won't mention the tuners name) with terrible shift points and destroyed the tranny at 28k miles.

all of the other trucks were trouble free

Bads:

1. Spark plugs.
2. VCT system.
3. With a CAI you should get a programmer and custom tunes.

I personally love my 07 Screw XLT. 5.4L FFV, 4x4, 4spd auto. In getting something used, you will ALWAYS gamble the possibility of horrible happenings, but in the presumption the truck was taken care of, it will take great care of you. I used to work for a custom golf cart company in Vegas and I would tow client's golf carts throughout town in my truck on a 25ft trailer and the truck handled very well.

I recently joined the Army and after graduating AIT, I went back home to Vegas, spent time with family, then gathered a bunch of my personal belongings in a 12ft tow-behind Uhaul trailer (measured 3100lbs total) and my pregnant wife and about another 500lbs of stuff in the back seat and in the bed. We spent 3 days driving from Las Vegas, Nevada to Fort Bragg, North Carolina (2343 miles) in the heat of August with the AC on nearly the entire time and I will say that 75mph crept up easily, the truck had great acceleration, and it stopped at any moments notice.

As an owner of a truck almost identical to what you're looking for, I absolutely stand by Ford with this truck. I have a programmer, K&N air intake kit, and Flowmaster 40 SIDO exhaust with stock CAT, and I'm on 20" rims with 33" Nitto Trail Grapplers.
