LTX M/S2's In, What PSI???

Hey, UPS delivered my tires last night just before 8PM. Took them to my local Ford (Bethlehem Ford) and had the tires mounted/balanced and new stems for around 40 bucks! I asked what pressure they set them at and the tech said 35 PSI (which is on the door). The Michelin's max pressure is 44 PSI.....I was going to email Michelin also.....but thought the many smart minds here would chime in! I do not want to run them to much under for all the heat and uneven wear...I was thinking 38-40 for normal use and kick them up to 44 when towing or hauling anything heavy....They are the "P" series by the way rated at 2601 lbs. per tire for load. Thanks.....

Jim

PS. They are definitely quiet and seem to turn easier if that makes sense....

I'd run them at 35 when not towing or hauling.

I'd stick with 35. Its what Ford F150 calls for, or "optimal" ride.
When towing maybe crank them up to 40-44?

In this case as the tires are the same load range as your OE tires (P series LR B), use 35. The max load carrying ability on P series tires is at 35. The extra pressure is for stability in the sidewall for things like towing or carrying heavy loads.

I was doing an odd job for a family member yesterday and noticed when parking on a hill and turning into the curb it really pushed in the tire. So this morning I decided to double check the pressure after cooling all night. The pressure showed 30 psi. Either my professional style gauge is off or theirs is.....I pumped it to 40 for giggles. I will let you know what Michelin has to say...From 30-40 now it is stiffer but not bad like I hear the LT tires would be....but might back down to 36 or so depending again on Michelin. Thanks for the replies.

You have over now probably overinflated it. The 35 psi should be cold inflation at around 72 degrees. At this mornings temp (around 30 degrees, maybe lower in your area) it will show a drop in pressure. Look at the temp pressure table for proper inflation.

Thought I would revisit my old thread. I have 50K on these tires and they are just about done. 70K is a bit unrealistic. Wondering what you guys are running these days....quiet smooth ride and LT still for towing a travel trailer.

Oh, do we get a forum discount from Tire Rack since they are a sponsor?
