Pity Party Invitation (Hit and Run)

Just an invite to join me in my pity party. Early this morning (4am), while parked on the street, my truck was hit by an oncoming car. I got dressed and drove around the neighborhood looking for the other car and found it. Young adult still living with his parents, apparently fell asleep at the wheel.

I'm hoping they can fix it and my truck will drive as it did before. The other vehicle was a Honda, and it looks much worse than my truck. If I could put the wheel back on, you probably wouldn't even know it had been hit. Just some scratching on the bumper! Built Ford Tough!

Pics are below:

what i can see from your pic:
1) lower control arm
2) cv axle
3) possible strut depending on if the axle hit it hard enough to bend the shaft
4) there appears to be some broken metal on the ground directly under the diff that you can see through the control arm. possible diff housing damage??
5) the portion of the frame where the rear of the control arm bolts to appears to be bent/torn along a weld seam.
6) sway bar link is bent

and this is only what can be seen on this side. possible damage passed through these items to the other side of the vehicle must be considered with a hit like this. i hate to rain on you but damage like this which is clearly visible on a 2005 will be expensive to an insurance company. in other words they might be totalling it out.

Man, I hate to hear about stuff like this. My bosses at work always ask why I can't make it in when it ices up--I remind em my truck is 2WD and if I leave it out on the road, someone will most definitely slide into it (either because of some Buds they finished, or the slick roads).

I live in the sticks

Hopefully they'll fix your truck, and you'll be out n about again soon.

Make sure that you file a Police report ASAP! The fact that you had to find this perpetrator who caused this damage irks me! He needs to be charged with leaving the scene damage to unattended vehicle!

Where did the other car hit your truck at? That took a lot of force to snap the control arm, but there doesn't appear to be any other damage to the car than the suspension. I hope you get it fixed soon.

On a 2005 F150 4x4 I doubt they will total it out. As far as the insurance is concerned it's a $15k vehicle and won't cost near that much in repairs.

He should be charged with reckless driving and hit & run. I'ld have done it with absolutely no qualms .... fall asleep and hit one and flee from the scene?

Bet he was high or DUI!

Yes, police report has been filed. I'm sure they ticketed the kid, other than that, I didn't ask.

I'm concerned about where to take it?? Should I take to my dealer, or a body shop? I believe in my state, since I am not the insured... I can take it anywhere I prefer. I do not have to go where the insurance company wants me to.

I hope they don't total it!!!! I purchased this truck brand new and have completed all of the scheduled service. As well as all of my modifications!! They will never be able to reimburse me enough to get another comparable truck!!!!

When i got in a fender bender, I took it to the dealer. I figured they could get the most oem parts and since I wasnt paying for it, I didnt care how much it costs...
