F150 5.4 similar to F250?

Well I know that the blocks are the same but thats as far as I know. I know the 04+ F150s 5.4 3v engines have some pretty intense spark plug issues because of the head change. My girlfriend drives a 2001 F250 with the 5.4 and its a great truck for her and I steal it to tow all the time and it has 35s on it. You can tell its not stock but power and toque is still all fine.

Anyways how similar are the two engines? From what I read the F150 truck has 40 more HP and 15more lbs of torque. I believe her truck has 3.73 gearing and I cant seem to find what gears F150 of this generation have, so I dont really know how an F150 would do on 35s because I plan on a 6" Tuff Country lift with this truck. I dont plan on regearing because of the cost and minimal benefit. Her truck didnt need it so I am hoping an F150 wont either but I dont really know?

All I tow is a small car trailer with my Jeep on it for 4 wheeling. However anytime I go wheeling I tow steep grades. Towing gross is anywhere from 5 to 7,000lbs depending on the Jeep, and I know these trucks stock have more than sufficient capacity because theyre rated just shy of 10,000lbs and as long as the engines are the same as the F250 I know my GFs truck does it just fine because I do it all the time.

Thanks!

35s on a stock geared 04+ aren't a great idea, too much strain for the transmissions. 33s at most. Otherwise if you are running 3.55s, its worth while to consider upgrading to 4.10s front & back.

Your axle code is in the door jam sticker. Decoders are available on here at thew VIN Decoder, and numerous other sites.

There are a good quantity of differences between the Super Duty 3v and 1/2 ton 3v, same for the 2v versions as your girlfriends is a 2v, a great engine btw.

The spark plug horror is every 3v vehicle by Ford.

^x2 I have 35"s and 3.73 gearing with a tuner and such. I wouldnt recommend towing a whole lot unless you re-gear to get back the power and maybe upgrade your brakes also because the larger tires plus towing usually will affect it even with trailer brakes... You should re gear because the tranny will most likely crap out otherwise...How often do you tow if its regular and it is around 10,000lbs maybe get a 250-350 lift it and you will be good to go...
