driver side window will not go down and up but motor is running

Hi,

Driver side window wont go down or up. I can feel the motor is running when i press button down...something loose in the door panel?

Is there a link to tell me how to remove door panel and inspect, fix it before i might damage it

Its 2004 supercrew FX4

Thanks!

Most likely it is the regulator. This is a known problem on these series of trucks. I have replaced 2 on my 2004. Usually the window will just fall into the door unexpectedly but I had one that would grind up and down and then finally quit working. Roughly a $100-140 part from tasca or team ford in vegas. It's fairly easy to take the door panel off in these trucks to check it out. Do a search on window regulator and you find how-to's.

Hey I actually just fixed the exact same problem in my 04 lariat. Basically my window regulator had a snapped cable that runs from one side to the other on the bracket but nothing was wrong with the motor. I just went ahead and changed the whole regulator. Bought a new one on ebay for about 60 dollars with shipping. There are a couple very detailed threads with pictures on removing both the door panel and the regulator itself. Just use the search option. Hope this helps

Your window regulator is toasted. I had mine replaced a month ago.

LIke everyone else said. The regulators in these trucks SUCK!!! They are cable driven and the cables like to snap.

I went with OReilly's parts because they are cheaper and have a lifetime warranty.

It's not the cables that snap, there is a swaged end on the cable that goes into a plastic retainer. The plastic retainer cracks and the swaged end pulls out. I've replace more than I can count.
