285/65/20's
Will 285/65/20's fit on an 04 4x4 Screw with a 2" Autospring in the front? Will there be some rubbing? Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't have any trouble with rubbing with a 2" level. I run 275/65/20's without a level and don't rub at all.

I have 285/65/20 on my Screw w/ stock suspension - no issues at all.
Edit: Sorry, I double checked, I'm running 285/50/20 - enough room though, no issues with them at all. |
I had 285/65/20's on my Oem 20's last year and now on aftermarket wheels, both without rubbing. 2" level with the oem's and 2 1/2" now with the aftermarket wheels.

Well after a long search and a trip to the tire shop I found out that they won't fit. Rub the fender flare and rocker panel. Too much to cut out. :(

When I purchased mine all the tire shops said they'd rub and I'd need to cut. Long story short I trusted the members on here that said they wouldn't rub and gathered a few pics of trucks that had them installed and purchased them anyways. If you need proof check my album. I've got them on the oem 20" and now on XD 20x9 rims and neither rub. Need more proof use the Search, you'll see few more with them on. |
The tires were BFg all terrain t/a's. We mounted the front left tire and tried turning it. I was heartbroken.

How wide are the wheels and how much backspace are you using ? I run a 20x9 wheel with 5.9" backspace and didn't have to trim anything and mine never rub even on weird angles.
|
Honestly, I don't know the offset or backspacing of my wheels. I have 20x9 or possibly 20x10 American Racing rims. I was running on 305/50/20's but two of em were bad and I needed to replace em. I got lucky and found a tire shop that had a good set of BFG 285/65's and thought I'd give it a try.
|
Where exactly was it rubbing ? I've had the same BFG KO tires on mine for years and have been running a 1.5" wheel spacer for the last couple with no issues. Granted I have a 2.5" AS but you wouldn't think that half an inch would cause all that. Too bad it didn't work out, you would have liked the tires.

I can't believe you would rub. Your leveled. I'm not, and I don't rub i bet. Granted, I'm 10mm narrower then you. It's gotta be in the backspacing of the rims. I'm on factory 20's.

It was rubbing on the fender flare and the black plastic that's in the fender well. I was gonna try to cut the plastic but wouldn't have been able to due to the metal of the rocker panel. I would have had to cut quite a bit. I'm chalking the problem up to my wheels have too much backspacing... These are my wheels
http://www.wayneswheels.net/AR1089_Mace_8_machined.jpg I thought they were 20x9 but I think they are 20x8.5 |
