Best Replacement shocks and struts
 

I lifted my 05 fx4 about 2 years ago and the rear shocks that came with my kit arent the best and I would like to replace them as long with the front struts so I can also remove that huge spacer. For the ones who have done this what brand shocks and struts have you used and what do you think of the ride?

Well if you lifted it 4" or less I would recommend the Rancho quick lift front struts and Rancho rear shocks to go with it. The Rancho quick lift strut will go from 0-4" of lift.

I have the 6" rough country lift

The current loaded quicklift strut from rancho is NOT height-adjustable, not sure if you are talking about the older non-complete strut, but just wanted to make sure the OP knows about the newer ones.

For 2WD
- Struts: RS999909
- Shocks: RS999285XL

For 4WD
- Struts: RS999910
- Shocks: RS999286XL

For the struts in the front, I don't think anybody produces a strut that only gives 6", you will probably have to get coilovers which are 6-8" adjustable or have custom struts made. Pro Comp and Fabtech sell coilovers seperately, and they both run over $1000, closer to $2000 if you go with Fabtech. BDS and a couple other companies make coilover lifts, but I'm not sure if they will sell them seperately. I'm not sure on any good shocks you could use, my truck is still on the stock shocks, but if you have the money then Fox and King make great shocks, but they are also expensive.

I am very suprised so much love for Rancho. I purchased the Quicklift front and the RS999 for the rear. They are by far the worst product I have ever owed. I have the adjustment know all the way at 9. They are soft and bouncy even at that setting.
Do yoy yourself a favor, and stay away from Rancho

I have a set of qlift rs999935/rs999911 and the rs999286xl. Just have to find some darned time to install. Looking forward to them, can't wait. Just running a readylift used 2" spacer.

I think the Rancho Quicklift setup is generally liked here. I installed it about three weeks ago. In the process of playing with the settings, I have found a nice compromise that does ride softer than the factory setup, but not overly bouncy. I will admit however, that even on the highest setting of 9, it does ride softer than the factory shocks. But, I'm not ready to call it bouncy by any means.

I know that they are well liked here. That is why I purchased them. I have tried every combo I could think of, and finally settled at 9 all the way around.
This is a poor compromise. I have trying to like them, but I feel that I am going to have to try the warantee route. I have no clue what to replace them with. Most likely an AS Level Kit and factory shocks. Perhaps the Billsteins. I will have to research them again.

Ya i was thinkning a coilover setup ill check the pro comps. King and fox are to much

you realize, that regardless of the leveling strut / leveling kit you throw on to your truck, its going to force the coil to be compressed more than stock, meaning you're going to get more bounce. combine that with the bigger tires most people throw on due to being leveled, it'll cause the truck to ride different than stock.

the main reason I like the rancho product is the loaded struts... they come assembled out of the box, so installing them is a lot easier than the other products and you don't have to mess around with leveling spacers, spring compressors, or anything.
